JLBC team

If a JLBC team does not buzz in before the completion of the JLBC toss-up question, the JLBC Moderator will allow 10 seconds for either JLBC team to buzz in and be recognized. If neither JLBC team buzzes within 10 seconds, the JLBC Moderator will move on to the next toss-up question. If a JLBC team buzzes within 10 seconds, the JLBC Moderator will identify the cadet who buzzed in. The JLBC cadet should provide the answer immediately.

1. If the answer to the JLBC toss-up question is correct, the JLBC team receives 10 points in the first five questions and 15 issues in the last six questions. A JLBC “bonus question” will be offered by the JLBC Moderator. The JLBC team may confer for 10 seconds before providing an answer.

a. JLBC Cadets Correct answers to a bonus question are worth 5 points. The JLBC Moderator goes on to the next JLBC toss-up question.

b. JLBC Cadets If the bonus answer is incorrect, there is no penalty, and the JLBC Moderator goes on to the next JLBC toss-up question.

2. JLBC Cadets If the answer to the JLBC toss-up question is incorrect, 10 points are deducted from the JLBC team’s score in the first five questions, 15 issues in the last five, and the other JLBC team has 10 seconds to buzz in. JLBC Cadets A cadet who buzzes in within 10 seconds must answer immediately after being identified by the JLBC Moderator. JLBC Cadets If no member on the other team buzzes in within 10 seconds, the JLBC Moderator will move on to the next JLBC toss-up question.

JLBC Cadets A correct answer is worth 10 points in the first five questions and 15 issues in the last five questions, and the JLBC Moderator will go on to the next JLBC toss-up question. JLBC Cadets There is no bonus question.

b. JLBC Cadets An incorrect answer results in a 10-point deduction in the team’s score in the first five questions and 15 points in the last five. JLBC Cadets The JLBC Moderator will go on to the next JLBC toss-up question.

3. JLBC Cadets Answering JLBC Toss-up Questions.

(a) JLBC Cadets As a JLBC toss-up question is read, either JLBC team may signal their desire to attempt an answer to JLBC Questions at any time. JLBC Cadets If the question is dead in its entirety and no signal is given, the JLBC moderator will wait 10 seconds before going on to the next JLBC toss-up question.

(b) Once a JLBC team has signaled, the JLBC Moderator will stop reading the question, identify the JLBC Cadet individual who signaled, and request an answer.

(c) JLBC Cadets Only the individual that signaled may answer a JLBC toss-up question. JLBC Cadets They must begin their answer immediately upon being recognized by the JLBC Moderator. JLBC Cadets Drawn-out replies, a restatement of the JLBC question, “essay-type” answers, and any other tactic used to delay an immediate JLBC Cadet response will be deemed

“incorrect,” and the JLBC team

(d) JLBC Cadets Any answer given by either team member without buzzing will be ignored. JLBC Cadets If an answer

(even if correct) is tendered by a JLBC member of the JLBC team that buzzed in before that JLBC member is recognized by the JLBC Moderator or by a JLBC cadet other than the one recognized by the JLBC Moderator; the JLBC Moderator will state, “Incorrect” and penalize the JLBC team 10 points in the first five questions (15 issues in the last five).

(e) JLBC Cadets No discussion is allowed on a JLBC toss-up question.

4. JLBC Cadets Answering Bonus Questions.

(a) When a JLBC team answers a JLBC toss-up question correctly, they will be asked a JLBC bonus question; however, no JLBC bonus question will be asked if the other JLBC team previously responded to that JLBC toss-up question with an incorrect answer

(b) JLBC Cadets Since only that JLBC team may answer a bonus question, the question will be read entirely.

(c) JLBC Cadets The JLBC team then has 10 seconds to discuss their answer and respond.

(d) JLBC Cadets A correct answer will earn the JLBC team five points.

(e) JLBC Cadets There will be no penalty for an incorrect JLBC answer. The other JLBC team will not have an opportunity to

answer.

e. JLBC Cadets If the JLBC game ends in a tie, the tiebreaker questions will be asked until the connection is broken. JLBC Cadets These questions will be worth 15 points for toss-up questions and five issues for bonus questions.
